In September 2003, during the 2nd Annual Crystal Valley Native American Pow-Wow, my husband, Kevin "Talking Crow" Ord and myself, Kim "Many Weasels" Ord were asked by the UELN Council to start a village in our area and take in existing members located in Altoona, PA into our new village.    Talking Crow was appointed the Village Chief, while I was appointed the Village Mother.  Both positions requires many things for us to do.   After accepting the appointments, we had to come up with a name for the new village.

Before we moved to the Hill Valley area outside Mount Union, PA, we lived in Huntingdon Borough for several years.    Kevin is originally from Dravosburg, PA (near Pittsburgh) and I was born in J.C. Blair Hospital, Huntingdon, PA, was raised and lived in Blair County since I was 1 1/2 years of age and moved to Huntingdon in 1992.    My parents have had a business along Lake Raystown since 1980 in which I worked until I left home in 1987 and a lot of my mother's relatives still live in Huntingdon County, some right in Huntingdon Borough.   Due to the time we have spent here and the Standing Stone being symbolic of the prehistoric era of Huntingdon Borough, we choose the name Standing Stone Village.

Since 2003, we have participated in many events as we could, skirting around our members' work and school schedules.   Prior to our appointments to form this village, Kevin and I were members of the Buffalo Path Band of the Metis Nation of the United States, which has disbanded in recent years.  It was through our association with the Metis Nation that led us to meet up with members of the United Eastern Lenape Nation (UELN) at the Bison Days Native American Festivals.

We were asked to become members of the UELN since 1998, but waited to see what the UELN was all about.    When we were at the last Bison Days Festival (2002) ever being held and the UELN heard about the powwow we were planning for Sept 2002 in Romney, WV, we were asked again, but waited until the following spring to make a decision to become UELN members.

In September 2006, the Standing Stone Village Council unanimously voted to resign from the UELN.
